Istanbul Congress Centre

İstanbul Congress Center- is the newest and biggest convention centre of İstanbul owned by İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and opened on September 2009. The İstanbul Congress Centre, which is located in Harbiye district, is built between the İstanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre (ICEC) and Cemil Topuzlu open-air concert hall. The İstanbul Congress Centre increased the capacity of the congress and convention facilities in the heart of İstanbul. The İstanbul Congress Centre first hosted the 2009 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund with participation of 15,000 delegates. The construction of İstanbul Congress Centre, which was started on February 2008, cost 330 million TL. In order to eliminate any possibility of traffic jam, a tunnel was built under the exhibition halls. A service road is connected to the 485 meters long tunnel that will be used only in times of emergency. The centre offers a parking garage for 850 vehicles. The centre offers great meeting facilities with its state of the art technology and simultaneous translation rooms as well as an auditorium with a capacity to hold 3,500 people. Five galleries in sizes varying from 500 square meters to 1,300 square meters are also part of the building.İstanbul Congress Centre, which has 6 floors and a total of 111.000 m2 construction area, is designed for international congresses, company meetings, fairs, exhibitions and all kinds of social, cultural, professional activities at any scale. The main building is connected via two different entrances to İstanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention & Exhibition Centre-ICEC and Muhsin Ertuğrul Theatre. İstanbul Congress Centre is not only very close to İstanbul’s historical and tourism centers, but also natural beauties of the Bosphorus are one step away from the congress centre, which is within walking distance to major hotel chains in the city. Multi-purpose congress and concert hall has a total of 3,500 guest capacity. One of the most important parts of the main building is the auditorium which has three entrances and three foyers in use. 24 simultaneous translation rooms, horizontally adjustable structure of the upper hall and multi use stage with hydraulic lift render the auditorium a useful and functional space for all kinds of organizations. The centre offers 8 meeting rooms with capacities between 97 to 1,408 pax in theatre style. Rooms can be divided by sound proof acoustic walls in order to create rooms suitable for smaller meetings simultaneously. İstanbul Congress Center has an exhibition area of 7.300 sqm which has a connection to ICEC’s Rumeli Exhibition Hall allowing almost 15.0000 sqm exhibition area combined. Multi-purpose areas, cocktail and banquet areas are sections of the main building. Spaces in the 1st and 2nd basement floors can be used as an extra space for exhibitions, cocktails, banquet areas and coffee breaks.
